Terms of Service

The rules of using Grimoire Beats as a producer, an artist, or just a visitor.

1. What Grimoire Beats is

Grimoire Beats is an online marketplace that connects producers selling instrumental beats with artists licensing them. Grimoire Beats itself is a platform — we do not own, create, or perform the beats listed.

2. Accounts

  • You must be old enough to enter a binding contract in your country (16 with guardian consent / 18 outright in most jurisdictions). To receive payouts as a producer, Stripe Connect requires you to be 18+ or to operate the account under a parent/guardian. Artists can use the platform to browse and buy at any age permitted by their guardian.
  • You're responsible for keeping your password secure.
  • One account per person. Producers and artists are separate roles, set at signup.
  • We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, especially for fraud, copyright infringement, or abuse.

3. Fees and payouts

  • Producers keep 80% of the gross sale.
  • Grimoire Beats retains 20%. See /legal for a full breakdown of where that goes.
  • Payouts are processed by Stripe Connect Express directly into the producer's connected bank account. Grimoire Beats never holds producer funds longer than the Stripe transfer requires.
  • Stripe payment processing fees (~2.9% + 30¢) are deducted by Stripe before the split.

3a. No refunds — strict

All sales are final. Because every license delivers an instantly-downloadable digital file that cannot be "returned", we do not offer refunds, partial refunds, store credit, or exchanges on completed purchases. By clicking Buy you agree that you forfeit any cooling-off / consumer-return right that would otherwise apply to physical goods, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

  • Exclusive purchases: the beat is delisted permanently and the producer is paid out. Even if you change your mind 60 seconds later, neither the listing nor the funds can be reversed.
  • Non-exclusive purchases: the producer can't un-sell the licence; we won't reverse the charge.
  • Chargebacks: initiating a chargeback after downloading the file is treated as theft. We will dispute it with Stripe (providing the licence PDF, download log, and IP), and a successful chargeback against you results in account termination and forfeiture of any remaining library access.
  • Discretionary refunds: the only refund window is if the file is genuinely undeliverable (e.g. corrupted upload, broken signed URL after support contact). Email support@grimoirebeats.com within 7 days of purchase with proof; we'll review on a case-by-case basis.
  • Copyright takedowns (Section 7) are not refunds — if a beat is removed for infringement, the producer's payout is reversed and you may keep using the file under the licence already granted.

Preview the full beat (with a periodic “grimoirebeats.com” voice tag if the producer enabled it) before buying. The clean, untagged file is delivered only after purchase; we don't provide demos, "sound packs", or trial periods.

4. Licenses

Each beat is sold under one of two license tiers. The specific rights granted appear on the license PDF delivered after purchase.

  • Non-Exclusive (Lease) — MP3 (320 kbps) delivery. The beat stays listed and the producer can sell the same non-exclusive license to other buyers. Buyer may use the beat on streaming releases, monetised social videos, and live performance, subject to the per-tier distribution cap stated on the license PDF. Producer credit ("Prod. by @producer") is required on any release. Underlying publishing and master ownership stays with the producer.
  • Exclusive — The original master file (WAV or whatever the producer uploaded) is delivered.The moment the sale completes the beat is permanently delisted and Grimoire Beats will never sell another license to it. The buyer becomes the sole licensee. Producer retains 50% publishing (writer share) on the underlying composition unless explicitly transferred in writing outside Grimoire Beats.

A legacy "Premium" tier exists on a small number of older listings; no new Premium licenses can be purchased. Existing Premium licenses remain valid under the terms in effect at the time of sale.

The license PDF emailed at purchase is the canonical agreement between buyer and producer. Grimoire Beats is a marketplace facilitator, not a party to the license.

5. Producer obligations

  • You must own or control all rights to anything you upload (beats, samples, stems, cover art).
  • Don't upload AI-generated work that uses uncleared training data, copyrighted samples without clearance, or anyone else's recordings.
  • Misrepresenting ownership is grounds for immediate removal and forfeiture of pending payouts.
  • You can edit pricing and toggle beats off any time. Exclusive sales are final and immediately delist the beat.

6. Artist obligations

  • Use beats only within the rights granted on your license PDF.
  • Credit the producer as specified ("Prod. by @producer") on any release.
  • Exclusive purchases don't transfer the underlying composition's publishing — producer keeps a 50% writer share by default.

7. Copyright — your uploads, your responsibility

Producers, read this carefully. By uploading audio to Grimoire Beats you are confirming that you wrote and produced the work yourself, or that you have all necessary licenses, clearances, and permissions from every rights-holder of every sample, loop, stem, vocal, instrument, melody, or other element it contains.

  • You — the uploader — are 100% responsible for any copyright, sample-clearance, or publishing claim made against your beat.
  • Grimoire Beats does not host, screen, clear, or verify the copyright status of uploaded audio.
  • You indemnify Grimoire Beats against any claim, damages, fees, or settlement arising from the audio you upload, including legal costs we incur defending such a claim.
  • If a rights-holder serves us a takedown, we'll remove your beat immediately, reverse any pending sale, and may suspend your account.
  • Repeat infringers are permanently banned and forfeit any unpaid balance.

DMCA takedowns: email dmca@grimoirebeats.com with the work, the infringing Grimoire Beats URL, your contact details, and a good-faith statement under penalty of perjury.

8. Prohibited content

  • Uncleared copyrighted samples or vocal acapellas.
  • Beats containing hate speech, threats, doxxing, or anything illegal where the buyer is.
  • Stems or files containing malware.

9. No warranty, limited liability

Grimoire Beats is provided "as is." We don't guarantee uptime, search ranking, or any specific level of sales.

No liability for uploaded content. Grimoire Beats is a passive marketplace. We do not pre-screen, master, or audit any uploaded audio for copyright, sample clearance, or publishing rights. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grimoire Beats and its operators bear no responsibility for the contents of any uploaded beat — that responsibility rests entirely with the uploading producer under Section 7.

To the extent allowed by law, Grimoire Beats's total liability for any other claim is capped at the fees we earned from your transactions in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Changes to these terms

We'll update this page when terms change and bump the "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
